Community Orchard

We had an enjoyable planting and maintenance day at the Community Orchard in Braughing in February which was very well attended – many people busy with spades and wheelbarrows of muck! There are 26 trees planted now including four cobnut trees, and Tricia Lilley reports that even one or two trees which seemed to have died are showing new shoots – a good sign. Tricia and Clive are now working on a permanent information board for the orchard, and we are thinking about future events including a Wassail night next winter.

Thermal Imaging

This is proceeding slowly – it has been difficult to get the right weather conditions at the right time, but imaging should take place in Braughing this week. The HEEP scheme has now finished but several 3VEG members have benefited from it by obtaining grants for PV panels, and we have been thanked by East Herts Council for our help in promoting the scheme.

Local Eco Schools

Roger de Clare School
in Puckeridge is now an Eco School as well as Puller Memorial JMI at High Cross - many thanks are due to Andrea Allen of 3VEG in achieving this status.

2nd Eco Film Festival, November 19th

The Festival was initiated by 3VEG last year and will take place again at the new Hertford Theatre with a mix of eco films and the highly successful children’s workshops. The event will be more of a Hertford Transition Town event this year, but 3VEG will support it.
